NHL LEGEND VISITS GOLF HOT SPOT IN WATERLOO
Igor Larionov pays visit to Grey Silo Golf Club to support Waterloo Siskins Golf Classic
April 4, 2013 (Waterloo, ON) – The Waterloo Siskins, one of the oldest junior hockey clubs in the world, will be commencing their 80th season in the fall of 2013. Before dropping the puck in the fall, the Siskins are hosting their 1st Annual Waterloo Siskins Golf Classic at Grey Silo Golf Club on June 13th, 2013 to bring the community together.
The Waterloo Siskins are pleased to announce that hockey legend, Igor Larionov, will be supporting the Siskins in this golf tournament at Grey Silo where the LPGA was hosted last year. Igor commented on the event saying: “I am happy to be visiting Waterloo to attend such an exciting event in support of a great local hockey team. It is my hope that the Waterloo community will come together and support the Siskins as they embark on their 80th season.” Larionov will also be making an appearance at Grey Silo Golf Club on April 15th, 2013 at 12:30 pm to address the public about the golf tournament.
The 18-hole golf classic will include a shotgun start, hole-in-one contests, longest drive awards, closest to the pin awards and a silent auction. Participants will receive a barbeque lunch, and a dinner reception where Igor will be available for meet and greets.
Player registration is $175. Tickets for the reception and dinner only may be purchased for $80. Tickets may be purchased through Paul Raymond, Waterloo Siskins volunteer and Chair of the Golf Tournament Committee. Additionally, sponsorship opportunities are available. Curtis Clairmont, President & Director of Hockey Operations, commented on the tournament saying: “This is a first time event for the Waterloo Siskins, but we are a very community driven team and this is the perfect opportunity for us to extend our thanks to loyal fans, sponsors and the general public beyond the regular hockey season. It is sure to be a fun day and evening for everyone involved.”
The Waterloo Siskins are a local Junior B hockey team that are a part of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey league.
